The tournaments conducted by Random Select Events (RSE) are geared towards the growth of the fighting game genre in South Africa. The first tournament catering for multiple fighting games was Cape Town Showdown (CTS) in 2011, which ran for 6 major events before going on hiatus in 2016. To fill the gap left by CTS during its hiatus and rekindle the local community’s fighting game spirit, the Random Select series was launched in 2017.
RSE have run a wide variety of events, both independently (events like Cape Town Showdown or Random Select) and managing fighting game related content at other events. The members of RSE also host weekly offline FGC meet ups in Cape Town. Our event history includes:
